Bleach (2017)

Okinawa Prefectural Art University Gallery

Due to global warming and rising sea temperature, coral reefs around the world have shown significant bleaching in the past ten years. Okinawa coral reef is no exception. Okinawa Sea side Laboratory (OSL)produced an interactive multimedia installation to visually represent this underwater phenomenon. With permission from the Okinawa prefectural government, OSL obtained 5000 dead coral skeletons to be displayed in the gallery. Audiences were invited to the dark room with a flashlight to help navigate through the space. The video showing a healthy reef in action is discovered at the end of the installation.
